Instruction

For a decade, Live In Peace has been providing free, private music instruction and band classes for EPA youth. The goal of instruction is not just to develop great musicians but to develop artists who will use their skills for social impact. We are now partnering with a new organization, EPACenter Arts (pronounced "epicenter"), which is taking on the majority of our teaching as they ramp up for the construction of a full-fledged Arts Center.

With EPACenter Arts taking on the bulk of our instruction, L.I.P. Studio is able to put more emphasis on our production of music and media aimed at community empowerment, education and social action. We operate a full Pro Tools recording studio in the basement of 321 Bell Street, one of East Palo Alto's most historically significant spaces. Below you can find examples of music we compose and produce here.

Our favorite monthly event is Open Mic Night. Young people (and adults) share their voice, their movement, their musical skills, and their vision. It's not just the level of talent but also the spirit of family, hope and healing that keep folks coming back for inspiration and rejuvenation. In addition to Open Mics, we engage in ongoing community and regional performance opportunities that allow us to showcase the beauty of EPA.
