The Live in Peace Bike Shop was built on the understanding that most young people thrive in project-based learning, even when they are not successful in traditional academic settings.

The bike shop is here to serve the East Palo Alto community, but mostly our youth. Some days we may close early or open late to accommodate our youth programming. Check out our Instagram for updates on potential time changes, @lipbikeshop.

The Bike Shop is open Monday - Friday from 12:00-6:00pm and offers community rides on Saturdays.

We designed the Bike Shop to remind young people of their incredibly creative, and intuitively intelligent selves, while we meet the bicycle and transportation needs of our community. We provide a space for young people to learn and train to be bike mechanics; provide free bikes to the community; and engage our community through riding clubs, community rides, and our bike racing team.

To date, we have a fully equipped bike shop with both staff and equipment; we have given out over 150 bikes to our community; and are training eight young people to be certified bike mechanics through our apprenticeship program.

We are changing the narrative through community rides, bike rodeos, our newly created bike club, and our bike racing team, serving both youth, young adults, and additionally community members. Together getting healthy, fit, and lowering our carbon footprint.

We provide a space for young people to learn and train to be certified bike mechanics, allowing them to have a source of income as well as mentorship, skill building, and healthy relationship building with other students and mentors in the program.
